Position Summary

This position is a key role within the Major Project and Programs organization.  This position interacts with leadership and influencers throughout the organization acting as a link between the MPP Governance, Reporting, and Business Technology group and the EO Project Delivery organizations to manage, communicate, and implement project management and contract management work processes through the Electric Project Delivery System (PDS).

In this capacity, the PDS Lead will provide planning, strategic analysis, and operational governance to the EO Project Delivery organizations. It helps facilitate, direct, and coordinate project and contract management processes and special projects related to the operations of Electric Operations, and facilitates dialog between the individual project teams to drive consistency and standardization of project and contract management methodology, processes and procedures, and tools consistent with PG&E Corporate governance and Utility Standards through PDS. This position will also recommend new procedures and tools as necessary to effect efficient high-quality standardization, affordability, and leadership approval.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience.
  • 7 years of related experience.

Desired:

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management
  • Experience in training, teaching, implementing, or maintaining Project or Construction Management processes
  • Has demonstrated the capability to manage mid-sized to large projects and programs of moderate complexity.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to determine root causes of work performance problems.
  • Knowledge of land acquisition, environmental permitting and capital contracting procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences from senior management to construction field forces on financial, work performance and related issues.
  • Proven ability to solve problems and influence others without a direct chain of command.
  • Fluent in the use of industry standard project and contract management tools and/or current company tools.
  • Field experience with maintenance, construction and engineering of electric systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures effective governance and process controls of project and contract management procedures including the oversight of compliance monitoring, updating procedures, managing procedure web links and training on procedures.
  • Analyze work processes across the portfolio and making recommendations on how to integrate and improve processes by standardizing and automating processes in PDS.
  • Works with ET business system leads to ensure alignment between PDS and business systems.
  • Coordinates with supporting Lines of Businesses and oversight bodies (EPM and CMCOE) on process and procedure changes, training, and implementation
  • Implement and supports change management regarding the development and implementation of PDS. 
  • Facilitate and integrate design sessions gathering requirements from stakeholders.
  • Evaluates process and project/program performance based on established business metrics (project/program and portfolio level). Prioritizes issues and facilitates/takes corrective actions, as appropriate.
  • Gather, compile and provide data, reports, information for executive presentations and regulatory requests.
  • Regularly monitors the documentation and determines when updates are needed. Prioritize issues and facilitates/takes corrective actions, as appropriate.
  • Provides guidance to Lines of Business for their procedures and foster adherence.
  • Coordinate/work with cross functional teams to integrate work performed, may manage midsized cross functional projects and initiatives.
  • May travel up to 20% visiting other offices.
