Your position requires that you are able supervise all levels of the clinical training of Masters level acupuncture/TCM students
Observation
You will supporting the students in acquiring the knowledge and skills required to treat patients under supervision; you, as the senior practitioner, will treat patients in the classroom setting, The students will observe your intake/SOAP note taking, patient’s care, including diagnoses, treatment principles, point selection, needling techniques and precautions, and herbal formulas.
Supporting the students in writing hospital ready SOAP notes and case reports/studies.
Level I
The clinic supervisor will observe every aspect of the interns’ interaction with their patients: interviewing patients, developing diagnoses and treatment plans, and administer treatment alongside a clinical supervisor. Emphasis on asepsis, proper examination, diagnosis, point location, and needling technique. Supervisor is present during all treatment phases, including needle insertion, stimulation, withdrawal, cupping and moxa. Interns also help prepare herbal prescriptions.
Level II
At Level II, state regulations require the supervisor observe all needling. Other requirements that are the same as Level I are listed below.
- Consulting with intern
- Checking tongue and pulse before approving diagnosis and treatment
- Signing off on treatment before treatment begins
Level III
At Level III, state regulations require that the supervisor is in close proximity to the treatment room at all times. Other requirements are listed below.

As a Clinic Supervisor, your professionalism will be setting a standard for AIMC student interns.
Currently, we are looking for someone to cover 2-3, 4 hour shift/wk(either 8:00am – 12:00 or
1:00 – 5:00pm and possibly be available to substitute for other clinic supervisors. A number of clinic supervisors also teach at AIMC, so that’s a future possibility.
Minimum Qualifications:
- CA acupuncture licensed for a minimum of 5 years
- Knowledge of HIPAA and Clean Needle Technique
- Bilingual in Spanish or Mandarin is a plus
