NETSCOUT Systems – RF Field Engineer/Drive Test Engineer
As part of its’ umbrella of network solutions, NetScout’s Mobile Services division is a leading provider of wireless network consulting services and RF optimization, analysis and network visualization software tools, and a pioneer in the 5G modelling industry. Netscout is looking for sharp, detail-oriented RF Field Engineers who can manage a drive-test team, follow well-defined procedures, use common sense – and ultimately be responsible for producing high quality drive-test data. Based in Berkeley, CA, NetScout’s Mobile Services division is looking for candidates throughout the U.S. who are willing to participate in a dynamic and challenging opportunity to work on the cutting edge of wireless engineering services. This position is full time contract work for 4-5 months. The right candidate will be a motivated, productive self-starter who will interface with lead engineers, project coordinators, drivers, tower crews and customers in a field tech position with the ability to travel to various US markets for 100% of the time.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead a drive-test team in the field to collect CW (continuous wave) path-loss data. Assist with design and construction of test hardware for use on towers, rooftops and small-cell-test-vehicles. Ensure that test kit is complete, all test gear is working properly, calibrated and accurate to ensure test accuracy. Understand and follow drive testing procedures as prescribed by Netscout. Work in concert with Netscout RF engineers and others at headquarters to coordinate effective test plans and execute the test schedule. Maintain accurate records of field activities via proprietary software.
- Hourly compensation
- Additional weekly performance-based compensation
- $50 per diem per day when in field.
- All travel paid for.
Minimum Requirements:
- BSEE or other engineering, science or technology education or equivalent formal training in electrical, mechanical, industrial or other engineering disciplines.
- Physically able to move and set up test equipment at cell sites (must be able to lift 75lbs).
- Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Windows Laptop/PC systems.
- Quick learner, self-motivated, attention to detail, and strong customer service orientation.
- Excellent written, verbal communication & presentation skill – Expert command of English.
- Common sense, resourcefulness; excellent sense of direction.
- Current US Drivers license required (not a permit).
- Must be able to work at heights up to 30 ft on a scissor lift or higher on rooftops
Desirable Skills and/or Experience:
- Training, experience and aptitude for electronic equipment.
- Understanding of radio frequency propagation modeling, testing devices.
- Experience working in the cellular industry in a field/operations position.
