Senior Product Designer

A product design job with purpose

This is a crazy time.  We’re all questioning how we’ve been living and how we want to live. And we’re looking for the next chapter of our work lives at a time when most companies and industries and products seem like a different universe from the visceral human feelings all around us.

We invite you to consider a very different unique of company and role, one that has direct, positive impact on people’s happiness.

What we do:

Because of old taboos, many paths in life people walk alone. Without the benefit of knowing what works for other people. These are fields that make research institutions, funders and companies uncomfortable, like sexual pleasure, ways we approach dying, and ways we mourn.

For Goodness Sake LLC exists to shine a light on these taboo and understudied parts of life.  Our team of scientists gathers people’s experiences and wisdom through large-scale research. We find the patterns in what works for people and we design web experiences so those insights can benefit people around the world.

Our flagship product, OMGyes.com, presents findings from the first-ever large-scale scientific study of sexual pleasure. Psychology Today called OMGYes, “warm, wise, tasteful and fun.”  The Times called it, “nothing less than the next wave of an unfinished sexual revolution.”  The Guardian called it, “fantastically refreshing.”

Now our team is growing so we can shine light on more life paths for more populations. And we’re looking for a senior product designer to come help us build an in-house product design team.

What you’d do day-to-day

  • Manage and execute across the entire design cycle, from turning user insights into user flows, then sketches, then testable prototypes all the way through to high-fidelity UI
  • Help build and lead a product design team, including UI, UX and UX research.
  • Partner with colleagues across product, content production and research to continually form and test hypotheses about how we can better inspire users, give them agency, build their self-understanding, embolden them to experiment, bring them closer to partners and empower them to experience more pleasure

What makes this opportunity unusual

  • It’s an unusually humanitarian company whose benevolence and impact are directly reflected in your day-to-day work
  • Competitive compensation for you — more pleasure and happiness and less stigma for humankind
  • We get emails and messages every week from users reminding us that people all over the world are meaningfully benefiting from what we make

  • 99% paid health, dental and vision insurance

  • Paid parental leave
  • Wellness stipend (up to $150/month)

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a love for human insights. From user-testing debriefs to seeing A/B test results to watching user interviews, you’re fascinated with people and how they work.
  • Brings user empathy to every stage of every project – keeping in mind the motivations and tendencies unearthed in the research
  • Love sworking through the entire design cycle, from initial insights, brainstorms, building flows, wireframes, prototypes, through to the production of high-fidelity designs
  • Comes from a visual design background, love simplicity, beauty and balance, and you sweat the details
  • Is a strong communicator and collaborator, great at getting coworkers and contractors to share their perspectives through thoughtful dialogue. You’re able to frame feedback in ways that drive understanding and inspire action

Requirements:

  • 6+ years experience as a web or app product designer
  • A proven track record solving complex interaction problems on small teams

  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates user-centric, beautiful, and strategic creative solutions, responsive web visual design and pixel-perfect attention to detail
