DevOps Engineer

Your Team responsibilities : To do this job well, you need to be a perpetual learner. You should know the landscape of tools and best practices utilized to ship code fast and maintain highly available services. Take that knowledge, and evangelize it, implement it, and scale it. We’re not looking for just a coder (but that skill is required). You must educate teams, build a consensus, and deliver solutions that will work across the company. This includes contributing to the system design of our apps to ensure the operations to build and deploy that app are automation-friendly and scalable. Containers and Kubernetes will be a major part of the tooling and app hosting transformation. You will need to help teams make this transition. As we’ll be transforming the culture, you also need to know how to push through bureaucracy and influence change to remove it. Availability is critical and you should design solutions with metrics that prove your apps are resilient. Finally, you need to be self-motivated and eager to tackle new problems. Your key responsibilities:Strong candidates will bring experience to resolve problems with many cross-functional concerns. You don’t need to have all the answers but should be able to draw upon your years of experience to drive to the best outcome. You should be a perpetual learner. You will wear many ‘hats’ depending on the project and need to feel comfortable with change. Experts are great, but a jack-of-all-trades candidate will probably find more success in this role. * Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members. * Help design cloud ready scalable architectures * Assist in containerizing workloads (both the theoretical and implementation) * Act as an ambassador to the AppDev teams, representing the vision and goals of the centralized MSCI DevOps team. * Document solutions and teach other engineers how to automate their own build/deploy/monitoring solutions * Go beyond theory to implementing and troubleshooting pipeline automation, reports, and tests. * Deliver proof-of-concepts to support new requirements. * Must be able to keep the big picture in mind while working through details. Your skills and experience that will help you excel: Have at least 8 years of experience in a job with following responsibilities… * Hands on experience automating infrastructure with tools like Ansible, Terraform * Deep knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes * Experience hosting workloads in the cloud * Comfortable working in a metrics driven environment. * Fluent in programming language like Java, C#, or C++ * Experience with scripting languages like Go, Python, Bash * Hands on experience with CI tools like TeamCity, Jenkins, BitBucket Server, Artifactory.
