Do you have what it takes?ResponsibilitiesGreet and welcome customers to the credit union in a courteous and professional manner.Provide an extra-ordinary service experience and adhere to the credit union’s quality service standards.Effectively sell first mortgage and all other real estate secured products and services to meet each client’s individual financial needs and goals.Originate mortgage loan applications using loan origination systems (LOS), and utilize sales tools to assist clients in choosing the right loan for their personal financial situation.Follow-up on all assigned mortgage loan leads and update the status in the LOS, within established timelines to ensure all service guarantees are met.Originate HELOC and2nd Trust Dees loan applications using the LOS, when needed.Coordinate the mortgage application process between the client and appropriate parties including loan processing team to ensure an extra-ordinary service experience.Communicate loan status to all parties during the mortgage process, oversee the mortgage process to a smooth closing, ask for referrals and constantly prospect for new customers and business referrals.Develop annual business plan for assigned market area, with Area Lending Manager, to support annual loan production goals and independently implement plans.Initiate proactive calling program to internal and external targeted prospects and proactively manage assigned courtesy call list or programs.Develop and implement a Realtor development strategy that supports the Home Advantage Program, along with Realtors outside the program. These relationships should assist you with increasing USE Credit Union purchase market share.Develop and implement Community Affiliated Partners (CAP) development strategy to assist with growing USE Credit Union memberships. These CAPs will serve as a B2B source for new business including real estate and other credit unions loan and deposit products for the credit union.Attend community networking mixers, and present seminars and or workshops to acquire new mortgage business.Maintain monthly sales log; update LOS with all contacts made with members regarding their loan, along with the monthly Status of Report.Manage loan pipelines, including timely and proactive follow-up on leads, approved loans, meeting targeted loan closing ratios and other product cross-sell ratios. Update the LOS with member conversations as required by management.Maintain the required knowledge of policies and procedures, laws and regulations, as well as other compliance requirements.Record all transactions promptly and accurately in compliance with all credit union policies and procedures.Properly identify all customers when transacting business and giving information.Remain current and knowledgeable of all credit union products and services.Support sales efforts of credit union by promoting our products and services. Saturday retail branch on-call loan support required as assigned by Area Lending Manager.Cross-sell and refer investment and insurance products.Meet loan production volume and all other goals as assigned.Promote and enroll customers in credit protection on eligible loans when applicable.Respond promptly to customer inquiries, handle and/or resolve member issues/complaints.Protect the credit union assets by adhering to safe and sound security practices.Work efficiently with all team members to reach monthly and annual loan production goals.Annual minimum production of $12 million – $18 million in mortgage originations must be obtained, in order to meet the minimum loan production for the position.Qualifications Jr. Community Mortgage Specialist:Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University; and minimum of 3 years of previous experience in originating first mortgage loans is required; and/or combination of education and experience.Sr. Community Mortgage Specialist:Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University and 5 years of previous experience in originating first mortgage loans is required. Ability to effectively write reports and correspondence and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.Ability to use loan origination systems, contact management software, mortgage coach software and Microsoft Office application products, as well as the ability to learn new applications quickly; requires general knowledge of computer networks and database use.All Mortgage Loan Originators (MLO) must be actively registered with the National Mortgage Licensing Service (NMLS). Must renew and pass annually to maintain active status.Active California Real Estate license and Notary license is preferred.To perform this job, the employee must possess strong interpersonal skills, good phone and e-mail etiquette, a professional presentation, and a high degree of personal initiative. Must exhibit the following characteristics: honesty, integrity, stress tolerance, adaptability, patience, initiative, persuasiveness, resilience and enthusiasm.
