We are a well funded, early stage SaaS startup located in the Bay Area. We are looking for a strong Junior DevOps Engineer to work in one of our two offices: San Jose or Berkeley. We are looking for someone who is ready to design, build, automate, and support our internal build and test systems. We would like to see candidates who have some experience with automation tools and processes, as well as familiarity with operating and supporting networking solutions. An ideal candidate should have a passion for automation and will have excellent problem solving, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
You’ll play a critical role in helping us build and define our product and will have tons of opportunity to grow as we grow.
This is a full time, permanent position in Berkeley, CA.

What You Will Be Doing
-Designing, building and operating cloud infrastructure to enable reliable and rapid deployment of services for developer use with effective monitoring and resilient operations
-Working closely with the dev team to speed up development build/test workflows
-Building out frameworks for test automation at scale
-Working with dev teams to make sure applications are production-ready, scalable, and reliable from the ground up
-Identifying and driving opportunities to improve automation for code deployment, management, and visibility of application services
-Developing tools to automate operational tasks (e.g.,deployment of machines, services, and applications)
-Writing automation code for provisioning and operating infrastructure at a massive scale
-Establishing end-to-end monitoring and alerting on all critical components of the application
-Representing DevOps in design reviews and work with Engineering teams on automation tasks
What You Need for this Position
-B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience
-Strong experience with Linux and expertise in scripting languages like Python and Bash
-Experience w/ networking such as switching, routing, SDN, and NFV
-Familiarity w/ CI/CD pipelines (i.e. Jenkins and GitHub)
-Familiarity w/ build systems (i.e. Make)
-Familiarity w/ test frameworks (i.e. pytest_
-Experience w/ container-based solutions (i.e. Docker)
-Experience w/ AWS or GCP cloud computing and its related services
-Familiarity with application/microservices security
Nice to Have:
-Experience w/ server & network virtualization, global infrastructure, distributed systems, and security
-Configuration management frameworks (i.e. Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or Terraform)
-Declarative build systems (i.e. bazel)
-Third-party REST APIs
-Datastores (i.e. etcd and MongoDB)
-Experience deploying monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, collectd, and Zabbix
