One of the San Francisco Bay Area’s busiest Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) is actively interviewing for a Director of Nursing to oversee a busy outpatient surgical practice. Join this established and successful organization, and lead a team of talented perioperative services nurses in a cutting-edge surgery center.
As patient and procedure volume continues to grow, this busy Ambulatory Surgery Center has steadily increased its staff, surgeons, and procedure types to grow with it. The Director of Nursing (DON) will oversee clinical and administrative operations in a multi-specialty Outpatient Surgery Center with 5 fully-equipped and state of the art operating suites and 13 Post Anesthesia Care (PACU) beds. Averaging over 550 cases per month, this Ambulatory Surgery Center keeps its books and beds full.
The Nursing Director of this ASC will be supported by an experienced staff made up of a CNOR Operating Room Supervisor and a CPAN PACU supervisor, 20 RNs that have been cross-trained between Pre-Op/PACU and OR, Operating Room Techs, and other support staff. From Pre-Operative Assessment and Holding, to Intra-suite circulating and scrubbing, to Post-Operative Recovery, the DON will lead this distinguished team through the entire continuum of care.
Working in close collaboration with the Medical Director and the ASC Administrator, the Director of Nursing will play a huge role in the clinical operations of this Center. This person will develop and implement continuing educational programs for the staff, focusing on high-quality patient services. The ASC Nursing Director will also serve as a mentor and clinical leader to the RN and support staff, serving in a Director Patient Care role when needed.
In addition to fulfilling these clinical duties, you’ll also get to practice your administrative talents. Working with the CEO/Administrator, along with the Business Office and Materials Managers, you’ll learn to develop and maintain tight budgets. The ASC Outpatient Director of Nursing will take ownership of accreditation preparation with the Joint Commission and CMS, as well as tracking credentialing for employees.
The San Francisco Bay Area is well known to have something for everyone. The artistic type, the gourmand, the outdoors person, and the home-body will all find something comforting. Contemporary street art, murals, galleries, and public installations adorn the streets just about everywhere you look. Hundreds of acres of coastline, nature trails, and parkland surround one of California’s most beautiful cities. With Silicon Valley and San Jose a short distance to the south, Stanford, UC Berkeley, and some of California’s best primary schools, the Bay Area is a great place for the Director of Nursing to raise a family. Connected by Bay Area Rapid Transit and one of the nation’s best networks of buses and light-rails, you’ll find that it’s easy to get where ever you’re going.
Of course, one of the best things about an Ambulatory Surgery Center environment is the hours! Nights and weekends off allows the DON of this ASC to have the balance between work and life that is rarely possible. Just imagine having the time and headspace to enjoy your competitive salary and generous benefits package.
