Research Associate II, Biology

Carmot is applying a transformative technology, Chemotype Evolution, to overcome the limitations of conventional discovery technologies and to identify superior drug candidates for challenging therapeutic targets. Carmot is seeking a motivated, meticulous individual to join our drug discovery team. Position Summary: You will play an important role in the development and implementation of cellular assays to investigate the mechanism of action of lead drugs and apply Chemotype Evolution to identify novel drug leads for Carmots internal and partnered programs. In this position you will screen custom compound libraries in cellular assays as well as develop new methods to understand MOA. This requires working closely with scientists in biology and chemistry as part of a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: Develop, conduct and analyze mechanistic pathway modulation assays in mammalian cells using western blots, ELISAs, reporter assays, qPCR and other techniques Generate and analyze primary cellular screening data to meet strict timelines and goals Troubleshoot and optimize experiments to ensure high-quality data is obtained Communicate key findings at project meetings and make recommendations for follow-up studies and prioritization Experience and Skills: BS or MS in cellular biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or related field with 3-5 years relevant experience Experience with mammalian cell culture including transient and stable transfections is essential Prior experience interrogating the effects of small molecules on cell signaling pathways is highly desired Expertise using liquid handling instruments and microplate formats Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary environment Willingness to learn new skills and rapidly adapt to changing priorities for multiple projects Carmot offers competitive salary, participation in our stock option plan, and comprehensive benefits.
