Director of Recreation Programs for Kensington, Calif.

ADMINISTRATOR/DIRECTOR OF KENSINGTON AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT PROGRAM, KCC SUMMER CAMP AND RECREATIONAL PROGRAMS FOR THE KENSINGTON COMMUNITY Kensington Community Council (KCC) KCC STARTING SALARY: 2,500.00 monthly salary No retirement or health benefits.

HOURS: 30 HOURS a week – during school year with flexible summer schedule.

The KCC, a non-profit organization , is dedicated to the improvement, development, and education of the community and the promotion of social welfare in Kensington.

The organization was formed over 50 years ago and is committed to providing Kensington and surrounding communities with affordable recreational and education programs for all ages.

The Administrator/Director position reports directly to the KCC Board.

This person is responsible for the planning, administration, and operational accounting which are part of the day-to-day management of the Kensington After School Enrichment Program (KASEP), KCC Summer Camp, and Adult Recreation programs.

The position works independently and performs a variety of administrative and analytical tasks to develop an array of after school class offerings, obtaining teachers to teach KASEP classes, as well as summer camp specialty teachers and counselors.

The position is the public liaison and public face of Kensington community recreation.

This leadership position requires a significant degree of initiative, independence, and judgement.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a teaching credential, be technologically knowledgeable, and be a problem solver with attention to detail and have a customer-focused approach in a public agency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Oversee the offering of up to 60 after school classes for children between the ages of Kindergarten through sixth grade and oversee the Summer Camp programs.

This include staffing, class registration, updating enrollment and attendance, communication with families and teachers, and facility maintenance.

The director is required to make the online registration system “customer ready” for each of the 4 annual program registrations (3 KASEP sessions and 10 weeks of Summer Camp): Plan, coordinate, and initiate actions necessary to meet deadlines and registrations, and produce/distribute program brochures; Write copy for the KCC RECREATION PAGE monthly and submit for publication in the local paper the KENSINGTON OUTLOOK; Perform bi-monthly financial reporting on each of the KCC programs and present to the KCC Financial Secretary; Prepare payroll for contractors, prepare 1099 tax reporting forms, and submit warrants for operational expense reimbursements.

DESIRED SKILL SET: Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Apply technical skills and be able to diagnose system problems and find resolutions with a focus on quality service to customers.

Must be fluent in Ms Word, Excel, and photo manipulation software.

Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with contracted KASEP teachers and camp counselors.

Work collaboratively with local government organizations, Kensington Hilltop School teachers and staff, the families of children participating in our programs, as well as with the general public.

Physical fitness is recommended as job requires helping to walk the students from different classes and locations around the area.

· , Have experience supervising staff and contractors.

Have experience with public speaking and ability to articulate programs to community groups and KCC Board.

· First aid training recommended.
