Under general supervision of the Clinical Lab Manager, the Inpatient Clinical Lab Scientist will perform a variety of tests and diagnostics, specifically relating to chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, blood bank, serology, and others. Once these tests are performed, the Hospital Lab Scientist will analyze and interpret the results to ensure that they meet quality control standards. It is critical that the Inpatient Clinical Lab Scientist be able to run quality control tests and calibrations with regard to reagents and instrumentation as these exercises fall within best practices. The Hospital Lab Scientist will be responsible for following proper safety guidelines as they pertain to hospital policies and procedures, in addition to adhering to infection control policies.

The Inpatient Clinical Lab Scientist should have a basic understanding of Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement methods as these will enable the Clinical Lab Hospital Scientist to perform their job duties to the best of their abilities. The Clinical Lab Manager is looking for a Clinical Lab Inpatient Scientist who can work effectively, efficiently, and quickly in order to meet the work demand.
